If anyone spoke about taking reiki training and classes, the majority of people wouldn't know what they were talking about. Reiki is actually a Japanese art and in Japanese its name is a combination of 2 words: Rei and ki, which mean "God's wisdom or the higher power" and "life force energy" respectively.
What Is Reiki?
Together they have the meaning of your life force that is guided spiritually. To learn more and to achieve that inner peace that it teaches and share it with others, reiki training will give you all the tools to not only make this a lifestyle choice, but to make a career out of it.
The idea of chi, or ki as it is in Japanese, being the central force inside us that keeps us healthy, is an Eastern philosophy that has become more common in America. Reiki is about healing your body by healing your mind, and as a reiki master, you will do this for your clients, and it is often combined with the practice of hypnotherapy or massage therapy.
It has also been known to cure any illness it has been put to work against, so it is a powerful force. Your ki needs to be maintained at a certain high level to be healthy and happy, or to feel balanced, and when it is too low, you are susceptible to depression and disease. Reiki Courses Description
Your reiki training courses will be different from traditional classroom classes in that you will learn from a reiki teacher or master who will take you through an attunement. This is the process in which you will be allowed to tape into an unlimited supply of chi. This chi will help heal your body mind and soul and make you feel like you are glowing.
There are three traditional degrees of reiki to learn; each one opening you up deeper to reiki's healing power. The first degree, which can be done in a 2 day course, is the introductory level where you learn to heal yourself, as this is essential before you can move on to heal others. In this degree level you will learn things like meditation, reiki's history, how to use it, proper hand positions on yourself and symbols.
The second degree, which can also be done in 2 days, is now moving on to healing others and using other tools to enable you to do so. You will learn to use the reiki training box, which allows you to dlve into the past, present or future, spirit guides and how to do distance healing. You will also continue studies in more advanced meditation to be able to heal people who may even be in a different country, as well as learning about angels and masters, transformational reiki and geometrics.
Your third degree reiki classes will most likely be done with a reiki master, as you will learn how to become a master and pass reiki on to others through attunement. You will also learn how to design reiki courses for you to educate others with the correct information. After this level, which takes about 1 week, you will get your reiki master degree.
There is no official reiki certification or mandatory training process for reiki practitioners other than going through the three degrees and attunement. The only state that has any regulation is Florida, which requires you to be a licensed massage therapist before you can practice reiki. You can learn about some reiki philosophies online, but self-attunement, while accepted, is not complete and so you cannot become a reiki master unless you attend the courses. Reiki Job Description
A reiki practitioner will begin his consultations like any other medical healer, by taking a detailed medical history, and understanding the client's lifestyle and ailments. You will then have your client lie down and place your hands over him in a variety of positions to heal the whole body. The process could take 1-2 hours. It is mostly used to ease stress and induce relaxation, but it can also resolve physical pain. Usually it will be combined with other healing therapies. Career and Salary
A reiki therapist could make about $25-60 an hour with private clients, but the key is building up a customer database of return clients, since reiki is relatively new and unknown to most people. With regular clients, it can be a lucrative business, earning you about $50,000 a year.
Reiki training is really not for everyone, as you do need to have an open mind and be willing to believe in a different, spiritual way of healing. It can change your life though, and the life of any clients you touch if you choose to pursue it, so for only a few weeks of training, you could find inner peace.
